others in Berkshire West

  Sanofi Insulin
We have been informed that Sanofi will be discontinuing the manufacturing of three of its insulins from May 2020. This is NOT due to a safety issue.

Insuman Comb 15 will not be available in any format, therefore any patients will need to be swapped to an alternative. Please discuss alternatives with the Diabetes Specialist Team. There are a small number of patients currently using this in Berkshire West. Please remember that patients requiring a change will need to be shown how to use new pen device.
  Community DSN Survey
The Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse Service would appreciate a minute of your time to complete their short annual survey.  Thank you for your help.
  National Diabetes Audit
The latest NDA report was published on 13 December. We were very pleased to note that Berkshire West CCG continues to show improvement, both in terms of Care Processes and Treatment Targets. The proportion of Type 1 and Type 2 patients achieving all three treatment targets now stands at 26.1% and 41.7% respectively. This reflects a lot of hard work that has taken place at practice level, and the huge amount of support that we have received from Dr Ian Gallen and the Community DSNs. It is hoped that the “Reducing Practice Variation” project will enable further big strides to be made in the coming year.
  National Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP)

The level of patient recruitment to the NDPP across Berkshire West remains low.  It is only possible for ICS to schedule events if they have enough people to fill them, so please continue to refer patients either via DXS or via a standard letter prompting individuals to refer themselves.
  BEST 4 Diabetes module - 18 March
The final BEST 4 Diabetes module for 2019/20, will be Renal Disease and Diabetes. This will be presented by Dr Ian Gallen on 18 March 2020 from 10am - 1pm, at the Berkshire Maestros, Reading.
